What The Grade Checks

The 0–100 Team Grade evaluates your team strictly against real competitive data from monthly Smogon ladder battles. It sums three objective components:

  • Member Viability (35 points): Assesses the ladder usage percentile of each Pokémon in the active format. Pokémon in S Tier (≥20% usage) and A Tier (10–20%) score maximum points.
  • Defensive Synergy (35 points): Analyzes the defensive type matchups of all 6 Pokémon against the offensive move types commonly carried by the top 30 format threats. Teams with 3+ members sharing a common weakness receive synergy deductions.
  • Offensive Coverage (30 points): Tests whether your team's damaging move types provide super-effective or neutral coverage against the top 30 most used Pokémon in the format.

Reading The Grade

S (90–100): Premier tournament-tier alignment with strong answers to the central meta.
A (80–89): Competitive, well-rounded team with minor vulnerability overlaps.
B (70–79): Viable core, but possesses noticeable defensive gaps or unranked niche picks.
C (60–69): Significant defensive stacking or low offensive pressure against top threats.
D (<60): Off-meta or unbalanced squad vulnerable to common ladder sweepers.
