How Format Tiers Are Built

Tiers are derived directly from weighted monthly Smogon usage statistics at the designated ladder cutoff rating (1695 for standard OU and Doubles OU; 1630 for all other metagames). Pokémon are classified into standard usage tiers: S Tier (20.0% usage and above), A Tier (10.0% to 20.0%), B Tier (5.0% to 10.0%), C Tier (2.0% to 5.0%), and D Tier (under 2.0%).

Reading Usage Percentages & Sets

Usage percentage represents the share of ladder teams in that format that included the specified Pokémon. Detailed set data—including top abilities, held items, move selections, EV spreads, teammates, and checks/counters—is extracted from monthly Smogon chaos logs and reflects battle choices made by players above the cutoff.
