Exclusives computation methodology

Version exclusives are computed from wild encounter tables in data/encounters/*.json. A species is exclusive when wild encounters exist in version A and none in version B.

Evolutionary relatives are included when their base stage is exclusive to that game, constrained to species introduced in that generation or earlier.

Missing version pairs in source dataset

  • Scarlet & Violet (Gen IX): Wild encounter tables are not available in PokeAPI CSV datasets for Scarlet & Violet.
  • Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl (Gen VIII): Encounter tables are not present in PokeAPI CSV datasets for BDSP.
  • Legends: Arceus (Gen VIII): Single-version release title; no counterpart version exists.
